Carlisle 4:550:00/4:55
RELEASED JAN 2019......The title song of this album - "Carlisle" - was named after Carlisle, PA which was ground zero for the model residential school in the U.S. that took native children away from their families to assimilate them, or as the motto of the school said "to kill the indian, save the man". This song tells the story and pays tribute to the children and families who suffered at the hands of these church led schools. The final song on the album -"Blessing of the Naomhog" - was written in Cape Breton (N.S.) as a collaborative expression of thanksgiving to Creator between Mikmaq elders and worshipers from the U.S. and Ireland. Combining 3 languages (English, Mikmaq and Gaelic), this song commemorates a unified blessing of a 2018 boat launch (called The Naomhog) from Baddeck, N.S. as well as the greater beauty of honoring and walking as one with First Nations. These 2 feature songs are further joined by a compilation of original songs Alex has written and recorded throughout his musical journey.
